Am Ende der ersten Strophe wählt das Kind - "the farmer" - ein anderes Kind - "a wife" -, mit dem es zusammen in der Mitte tanzt.
Am Ende der nächsten Strophe wählt wiederum dieses Kind ein anderes Kind - "a child" -, das zu den beiden in die Mitte kommt.
So geht es weiter bis zur letzten Strophe. Das letzt Kind, das gewählt wurde - "the cheese" - wird zum "farmer" der nächsten Runde.
